Any comment on Oracle v Google?

I don’t think Jason is a Java developer, otherwise he would have been all over Oracle vs Google.
The situation is pretty annoying, and there is a lot of FUD goign on. While you read the all the news, remember this: Java was open sourced by Sun under GPL2 with classpath exception. And GPL2 has implicit patent grants. So no matter what happens there is a version of Java that is both fully open source and safe from the Oracle lawsuit.

Oracle’s case against Google looks pretty weak.
If Oracle wins, it will be because the US patent system is upside down, not because there is any merit to their claims.
But I appreciate Oracle’s “fighting like a real man” approach of publishing a specific list of patents that we can all have a look at, which is more than you can say about Microsoft’s sneaky patent FUD against GNU/Linux.
Also, Oracle is not taking aim at the system we know as GNU/Linux. Oracle only targets the DalvikVM layer of *DalvikVM/Linux* aka Android.
