Novell in a two-part Fire Sale

The New York Post is reporting that Novell has “reached a deal in principle to sell itself in two parts” in the next month, culminating with Novell being de-listed. Shuttleworth: Defending Ubuntu

Mark Shuttleworth has a very interesting blog posting, “Reflections on Ubuntu, Canonical, and the march to free software adoption” where he responds to the latest round of Ubuntu criticism.  Free Software makes Ubuntu possible  I’ll get straight to the main point: I appreciate the emphasis Mr. Shuttleworth makes on Free Software in his post, especially in [...]

They do not have the benefit of the experience of non-Ubuntu users. I myself have helped Ubuntu-ers in the past to do very [...]

Shuttleworth: Open Textbooks

Mark Shuttleworth chimes in on the Open Textbook topic. “Open Textbooks” is a powerful idea; in some ways I think it even exceeds Free Software. “Open Source” has shown remarkable efficiency in the market, even to those antagonistic to the principles that make it so. If the idea of “Open” – and the more important, [...]
